GALP Costa Daurada, Territori Blau: A visual journey through our maritime culture

When a documentary project takes shape, moves beyond the viewfinder, and dresses public spaces in a traveling exhibition, the story comes full circle.

On summer 2024 , I had the opportunity to explore the coastline of the Costa Daurada to capture the essence, the traditional crafts, and th daily life surrounding our sea. 

The result of this work is the photographic archive that brings the traveling exhibition "GALP Costa Daurada, Territori Blau" to life, promoted by the Local Action Group for Fisheries (GALP) with the support of the European Union and the Generalitat de Catalunya.Over 40 images bringing the Blue Economy closer to the communityThe main goal of this documentary project was to capture and share the wealth of our coastline across four key municipalities: Calafell, Torredembarra, Tarragona, and Cambrils.Through a selection of 40 large-format photographs, the exhibition highlights:

• Tradition and daily life in fishing ports.
• The invisible, essential work of local seafaring communities.
• Local gastronomy and the vibrant role of public markets.
• Sustainability and the blue economy driving our region forward.

• A dynamic, traveling exhibitionWatching these photographs engage with everyday passersby has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. The exhibition has already traveled to key public spaces, including the glass walls of the Central Market of Tarragona, the El Pati hall at the Cambrils Cultural Center, and the CRAI Campus Vila-seca (URV), bringing the history and future of our coastline to thousands of visitors.Documentary photography isn't just about pressing a shutter button; it's about listening, understanding the environment, and transforming local identity into lasting imagery.
